Product Recall: Mercedes-Benz ML, GL (Model Series 164) and R-class (Model Series 251)
The Competition and Consumer Authority (CCA) calls upon motorists who own Mercedes-Benz ML, GL (Model Series 164) and R-class (Model Series 251) manufactured between 2006 and 2019 to immediately stop driving these vehicles and contact their dealers for further assistance.
This follows a global recall by Mercedes-Benz of these models because of an issue with the brake booster. Mercedes-Benz said there is a possible brake failure caused by advanced corrosion on the housing joining points.
There are an estimated 29 affected vehicles in Botswana which could have been bought either in Botswana or South Africa. The dealers are expected to inspect potentially affected vehicles and, depending on the results, take corrective action where necessary.
For any further enquiries consumers can contact the CCA on the following: Phone numbers: 73771321/73616588/3934278
