Product Recall: Purity Essentials Baby Powder

The Competition and Consumer Authority (CCA) urges consumers in possession of Purity Essentials Baby Powder to immediately stop using the product and return it to the point of purchase.

Tiger Brands (South Africa) on 7th September 2022 announced a recall of Purity Essentials Baby Powder products as a precautionary measure, after trace levels of asbestos were detected in test samples from a batch of talc powder used as raw material in production of the finished powder products.

Consumers in possession of Purity Essentials Baby Powder/ Purity & Elizabeth Anne’s Essentials Baby Powder should return them to suppliers for a refund.  Retailers and wholesalers must immediately remove all the affected baby powder products from store shelves.

Products included in this recall are the 100g, 200g and 400g pack sizes of Purity Essentials Baby Powder and Purity & Elizabeth Anne’s Essentials Baby Powder.
